We had a lovely time at The Star Folk Club in the Admiral Bar on Tuesday 23rd August. It was our first time headlining the club and we were really excited to play in our home city again. Support was John Graham who played a lovely set of folk songs that the audience could join in with.
After a quick change over we took to the stage and started with a few old familiars, including Star o’ the Bar, which always goes down well. We were delighted to mix in some newly arranged songs into our set, which will feature on our debut album. We played two 45 min sets with a break in between for a raffle. Unfortunately we weren’t lucky this time!
The following Friday we were playing in Montrose folk club. Montrose was quite a long drive for us from Glasgow! After a reheasal in Heather’s house in Cowie (and some fun with her lovely dogs!) we set off for the gig.
Upon arrival we were greeted by sound engineer and MC, Gary, who as it turns out knew Claire from a singer/songwriter weekend they both attended last year. Gary got us set up very quickly, so we were able to relax for a bit before the gig.
There was a fantastic turnout to the venue, the best the club had seen in a while! We really enjoyed the night and got a great reception from the audience. Also got to hear some lovely numbers by Gary and Christian, another singer Claire met at the singers weekend.
Thursday 1st September we played at Falkirk Folk Club. The gig itself takes place in the Tolbooth Tavern, a wee room up the stairs in the pub. It was the smallest venue we had ever played in! The music went down well, and it was a lovely intimate gig.
We really enjoy our folk club gigs; there is always a great atmosphere and we’ve met some wonderful characters along the way. Big thanks to The Star, Montrose and Falkirk Folk Clubs for giving us such a warm welcome and supporting our music. Our next two gigs will be in Glenfarg Folk Club on 24th October and Penicuik Folk Club on 6th December. Hope to see some of you there!
